About books...
Formats
Hentzenwerke Publishing books come in either printed, electronic, or both formats. "P" means the book is available in hard-copy, "E" means the book is available electronically.
Most are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format (you'll need Reader version 5.0 or better, available here.) A couple of our older books (Effective Techniques and both Hacker's Guides)
are only available electronically in .CHM format.
Availability
"Now" means that all formats are available to buy from the Hentzenwerke website. Generally, the ebook is available a few weeks earlier than the printed book. Note that it takes between four and six weeks for a printed book to make its way through the chain of wholesalers, distributors, and bookstores before it's available on store shelves. See the book's individual catalog page for additional details.
Printed books
Most printed books include download of source code and ebook.
Electronic books
Ebooks are downloadable from our website and usually cost $10 less than the printed book version. Generally in PDF format, a few are also available in CHM format. PDFs are provided with Acrobat Standard Security, which means you can print, extract code snippets and access via readers for the visually impaired, but you can't modify the contents. Most printed books are also available in ebook format, but as older printed books go out of stock, they'll be available only as ebooks.
